Jenny McCarty is a Water Resources Specialist with over 11 years of experience in watershed planning, water quality monitoring, aquatic organism ecology, stakeholder engagement, large database management and data analysis. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Denver and a Master’s in Stream Ecology from Montana State University, Bozeman. In between degrees, she spent several years working on a variety of aquatic resources projects in Colorado, North Carolina, and Alaska. Before joining the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District, Jenny spent almost 4 years working for SWCA Environmental Consultants on a variety of Colorado Front Range projects, specifically wholistic watershed analysis, wildfire recovery, and urban impacts planning in subwatersheds of the South Platte and Poudre Rivers.
Jenny grew up near Evergreen, Colorado and spent time camping, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking throughout the state. She continues to enjoy outdoor fun at home and abroad with her partner, seeking mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, and river paddling adventures. Her love for nature is further explored in hobbies like wild food foraging, painting, and pottery.
