Dan Wolford was appointed to the St. Vrain and Left Hand Board of Directors on April 13, 2020.
Dan is currently the Open Space Manager of the Land Program with the City of Longmont where he has worked since 2000. Prior to joining the City of Longmont, Dan served as Manager of Parks with Boulder County Parks and Open Space and Parks Division Coordinator with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District. He has a Master of Science in Natural Resources and Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Park and Recreation Administration from Ohio State University, where he played varsity lacrosse. Dan has the distinction of having a Certified Risk Management designation as an associate in Risk Management (ARM), American Institute for Property and Liability, and received a GIS certificate from Front Range Community College.
In addition to his work with the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District, Dan has served as an Executive Steering Committee member for the Colorado Open Space Association (COS) since its inception in 2002 until 2019. He is a member of the Nature Area Association, Colorado Parks and Recreation, Colorado Outdoor Recreation Resource Program, has been member of the Longmont Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from 1994-2001, the CSU/Boulder County Extension Advisory Committee Chairman from 2008-2019 and is the current Conservation Chair for the St. Vrain Angler, Trout Unlimited and serves as a Board member since 2014.
Dan’s background in water includes: currently serves as a Board member on the Union Reservoir Board since 2007, currently serves as Treasurer on the Lake McIntosh Reservoir Board since 2007, currently serves as the President of the Bonus Ditch Board since 2010, and as the Open Space Manager for the City of Longmont he acquires and manages water rights since 2001.
Dan is married to his loving wife, Dr. Jane Wolford, a local Longmont Optometrist, for 37 years. Together they have 3 great children of which he is very proud, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Adam. Dan is an avid fly fisherman and fly tier and relies on water resources for work and fun!
